Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Real-life detection dogs are trained to search for a variety of things–drugs, explosives, human remains, currency, other contraband, living humans (such as for Search and Rescue), and much more. Scent Work takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play.
There are a variety of organizations that sanction trials in our area. The instructor, Joan Klingler, is a judge for the American Kennel Club (AKC) & Canine Work & Games (CWAG).
Come and learn the basics of scent work and let your dog use its nose!
The beginner scent work class is for dogs that have completed the Introduction to Scent Work class or have scent work experience.
The dates for this 6 week session are Mar. 17, 24, 31, Apr. 7, 14, and 21.
Class will be 1 hour in length
Limit of 8 dogs
Basic Scent Work Supplies will be provided at the first class-please bring lots of good, smelly dog treats!
