Level 2: Beginner Agility
Age/Enrollment Requirements: Dogs must be at least 12 months of age. Students must have approval from the Agility Foundation instructor that the stated skills for advancement have adequately been met or the required skill set has been learned at another training facility (agility training director must evaluate).
Class Content: The following skills will taught:
Warm-ups, stretches, controlled walking, sits and downs
Targeting (use for lateral and forward distance, contacts)
Contact equipment working up to full height
Proofing behaviors (i.e. contact performance)
Understanding of the elements of handling and effectiveness
Timing of cues
Working ‘round the clock’ on all obstacles
Lead out 1 obstacle
A-frame and Dogwalk at Full Height in sequences
Introduction of the teeter
Table (sits and downs for full trial count)
Tire, Tunnel and all types of jumps
Weaves first six poles and work to twelve poles
Forward distance work
Lateral distance work
Front, blind and rear cross
Obstacle discrimination (i.e. tunnel/a-frame, tunnel-dog walk)
Short sequences (5-6 obstacles) with changes of direction
Equipment: All obstacles will be taught with dog on both right and left of the handler. Jump heights may be raised at handler’s discretion.

Advancement Requirements: Dogs must demonstrate the following skills to advance to Level 3 Beginner/Intermediate Agility:
Dog must be able to weave 12 poles from both sides with assistance/guides.
Dog must be able to do both sit and down on table for full competition count.
Dog is willing to attempt the teeter
Dog demonstrates an understanding and is confident on full height contact equipment
Handler has working knowledge of concepts and handling skills taught at this class level
Handler must have control of off-lead dog
Handler must be able to lead out 1obstacle with dog in a stay.
Dog can perform 4-6 obstacle sequences
